So, before I start up the game again……

…..I should note what happened at the end of Ancient Track, ‘cuz it was pretty darn crazy.

The boss of the dungeon was a Litwick with Fire Absorb. A LITWICK. WITH. FIRE ABSORB.

And y’know what that meant? I couldn’t do a DARN THING to it. NONE of my attacks worked. So, Servine, who was of course weak to Fire, had to do all the attacking, while I focused on takin’ out Litwick’s partner, a Mienfoo, ‘cuz I had nothin’ else to freakin’ do.

As expected, Servine didn’t take Litwick’s attacks too well. And I wanted to save my Oran Berries to get transferred to story mode. Luckily, Servine’s main attack was Mega Drain, but I was still worried. So, after I defeated Mienfoo, I used this item called an “All Dodge Orb” to raise my team’s evasiveness. Basically a Double Team, I guess. I just used it ‘cuz I wanted to do SOMETHING to help turn the fight around. I was desperate.

AND IT WORKED.

Servine almost fainted, but then Litwick MISSED and Servine then healed with Mega Drain. And, ‘cuz of Litwick’s low defenses, it only took one more attack after that to finish it off.

That was the CRAZIEST thing I’ve seen in a Mystery Dungeon game since I used Totter Seeds to beat Jirachi in Bidoof’s Wish back in Explorers of Sky. Crazy as in COOL, I mean. XD Luckhax can really come through for you!

I mean, when I first saw we had to beat a Litwick, I was like “Ooooh snap”, and when it absorbed my Flame Charge, I was panikin’. Seriously, that was pretty much the worst Pokemon to make the boss. To tell the truth, I almost gave up. I thought the game had put me in a “no win” situation. BUT WE DID IT!! We did it, and it was all thanks to that All Dodge Orb.

As a reward, I got not only the items in Pignite’s inventory, but a whole bunch of other items given at the end! I can’t remember exactly what they were, ‘cuz this was two days ago, but I remember there bein’ lots of hold items.

So, that Magnagate sure was fun, but it’s time for me to return to the main story!

I descovered a Magnagate inside a cup on my nightstand.

Yeah, this is….interesting…..

As much as I’d like to see what happens with Gurrdurr and the Timburr, I’m WAAAAAYY too curious about the “Descover a Magnagate” feature.

Plus, after Hazy Pass bein’ unexpectedly difficult, I figure it’d be best to get some extra items in case of emergencies.

So, I’m goin’ in….into my….cup….huh…. o__o

………

…..PIGNITE!?!? REALLY!?!? *groans* I HATE Tepig’s evolutions!

Ancient Track, huh?

Sweeeeet, my partner’s a Servine….BUT WHY COULDN’T I HAVE BEEN THE SERVINE!?!?

…..So….I’m level twenty-five, and he’s level twenty-nine…..that’s wierd….

Okay, let’s get this over with….I hope this place isn’t too long.

Well, if you’ve been followin’ me since when I was playin’ White, then you should know that I freakin’ HAAAAATE Scraftys. They were the most annoying things in the game to fight (next to Ghetsis’ Hydreigon). And that I also hate Conkeldurr for bein’ the anti-Excadrill.
Well, guess what? In Gates to Infinity, the first boss fight is against the prevos of both those Pokemon! Eeyup….Gurrdurr and Scraggy.
When Scraggy stole the gems, I was pretty peeved. But, at the same time, I wasn’t too surprised. It makes sense that a Dark-Type would be a sneaky thief.
But lemmie tell ya, that whole twist with Gurrdurr surprised me. I honestly did NOT see it comin’. I know I prolly sound stupid for sayin’ that, but it’s true. I thought Gurrdurr was just gonna be one of those quirky side characters that runs a shop. He seemed to have a temper, but I thought that was just a gimmick. Y’know, the tough guy who scares everyone, but is really a nice guy deep down. We’ve seen those types before.
In short, I didn’t expect Gurrdurr to be involved ‘cuz it seemed to obvious. And, after the whole Dusknoir thing in Explorers, I find myself gettin’ suspicious of the nice characters more than the jerks.
But anyway! Hazy Pass was unique. I don’t think there’s been a dungeon like it in the other games. Every other floor was a short hub-like place with Pokemon who sit there and don’t attack you. As opposed to the usual formula of large maps with wanderin’ Pokemon who attack. It’s…..hard to explain. But, if you’ve played through that part, y’know what I mean…..I hope. >__>
Hazy Pass was when I first started to feel a difficulty curve. Like I said before, I had my first loss. Even after that, almost every single Audino I ran into gave me trouble. I would start with Leer, but they would sometimes counter with Growl. And when there was another one nearby, it would use Helping Hand to make even more trouble. And after the battle was over, chances are that I’d been Growled so much that I couldn’t even beat a Wooper with Vine Whip. And that’s just pathetic. Thank Arceus for Wonder Tiles! XD
But, other than the Audinos, the dungeon wasn’t too bad due to every other floor bein’ a breather area. And the layout was alot nicer than the dead end-filled Stony Pass.
On the way, I picked up our first hold item, a Defense Scarf. I gave it to Mijumaru, ‘cuz I’m a wall anyway, so chances are he’d be takin’ more damage than me on a normal basis.
The boss fight, on the other hand, was a doozy. I beat it in one try, but I had to use FOUR Oran Berries to do so. We had NO super-effective attacks. ‘Cuz I’ve had more problems with the Scraggy line in the past, I decided to defeat Scraggy first. I Leered him to lower that annoyingly-high Defense of his, then just Vine Whipped away. Meanwhile, Mijumaru was bein’ a total idiot. Not to sound mean or anything, but he was. He kept usin’ Assurance on Gurrdurr! Seriously!!! I didn’t know whether to laugh or groan. XD
But in the end, we came out victorious. I gotta say, this game has made me pay more attention to the abilities Overgrow and Torrent more than I ever did in the main series.
Lastly, I’ll say that Gurrdurr is a jerkface, but if someone had the audacity to destroy something I built in front of my face, I’d be pretty pissed too. ‘Cuz of that, I don’t hate the guy too much. He’s a jerk, but he’s no Snover…..At least not yet.

WELL, THAT DIDN’T TAKE LONG!!

I just had my first loss.

Mijumaru was ganged up on by two Audinos in Hazy Pass. My attacks didn’t do enough damage to save him. And I didn’t heal ‘cuz I underestimated ‘em.

I gotta remember that this is the same Pokemon who was able to survive a STAB Struggle Bug from a Leavanny that was eleven levels higher in White. Audino is the Great Wall of Unova.

Well, I guess I just found a use for Leer, AKA that one attack I never thought I’d use.

……This is so embarrassing….

I think I’m enjoyin’ bein’ a Snivy a bit TOO much…..But, I guess I have a right to be smug here….
Thanks for followin’ me, kawaiidolphin!

This is probably my fav line in the game so far. XD
Quagsire is such a Wigglytuff…

This is probably my fav line in the game so far. XD

Quagsire is such a Wigglytuff…

Quagsire took me and Mijumaru to Post Town, which I guess is this game’s hub. Our so-called “Paradise” isn’t much of a paradise right now. We gotta build a house, ‘cuz, y’know, we don’t wanna be rained on even though we both resist water. >__>
In true Mystery Dungeon tradition, Kecleon is there. But, for some reason, Kangaskhan is absent. Instead, there’s just this box to store items in.
Geez, why does Quagsire think he’s gotta hold our hand for EVERYTHING? We could’ve just found the carpenter ourselves….And he even waits outside for us, like a STALKER!
However, I don’t hate Quagsire. In fact, he kinda-sorta reminds me of Wigglytuff, and Wigglytuff was just AWESOME. I hope he has some sort of equivalent in this game, and it seems like Quagsire is it. However, it’s MUCH too soon to jump to conclusions like that. >__> Heheheh…
And of COURSE the carpenter’s a freakin’ Gurrdurr. Well, it’s better than a Conkledurr, but still….I HATE THAT LINE!!! And in this game, we gotta run errands for one of them!? Really!?
Stony Cave was okay. The sheer amount of dead ends annoyed me a bit, though. And I REALLY wasn’t a fan of how many Klinks there were. In our current state, Mijumaru and I have NOTHING to fight Steel-Types with. But, on the bright side, I blocked Mijumaru from the Joltiks, and in turn, he beat up the Swoobats for me.
And, JUST like in Explorers of Sky, my partner levels up first. Not that I’m complaining. XD
"These must be the blue gems!" NO DUH, MIJUMARU!!!! XD

I’ve been very into Soul Eater lately, so this amused me. XDD

Also, I would like to thank frailwind and pokemanacademy for followin’ me!

I just finished the first dungeon of Gates to Infinity~!
My first impression from the game was how vibrant the graphics were. I really like how it looks. As my character put it, it looks “bursting with nature”!
However, so far, I’ve been mildly disappointed.
Not in the gameplay, of course! It plays almost exactly like the last two games, which is nice. The only thing I’ll have to get used to is havin’ to press L to use attacks.
What I’m disappointed about is that this game left out two things I liked from the last one. First off, there’s no more personality test! What gives!? I really liked that feature ‘cuz, well….I didn’t know what I was gonna end up as. It added a bit more…..I dunno…..luck to it, ‘cuz chances are, you weren’t gonna be the exact Pokemon you wanted. However, here, you just…..pick the Pokemon. Wha….?
Well, I chose Snivy, of course! Snivy’s not only my fav Unova starter, but my fav starter PERIOD. So, whenever I get the choice to use one, I freakin’ TAKE IT. X3
For my partner……I was ALMOST gonna pick Tepig, ‘cuz in Explorers of Sky, I was a Fire-Type and my partner was a Grass-Type, and we just OWNED EVERYTHING. ….Well, okay, not really, but we complimented eachother SO WELL. So, I know that Grass and Fire is an awesome combination, and, even though Tepig’s one of my least-fav starters, that’s mainly due to his EVOLUTIONS and not him induvidually and, of course, you don’t evolve in the main story of the Mystery Dungeon games. I think Tepig’s kinda cute on his own, actually.
But in the end, as you can see, I went with Oshawott.
This isn’t JUST ‘cuz I think he’s freakin’ adorable. It was mainly ‘cuz of two things. One is that I wanted to try something new, and two, I personally have a soft spot for Water-Types.
Now, I actually had to think abit about our names, and this is ‘cuz, for some UNKNOWN reason, you can’t pick, or even VIEW, your Pokemon’s genders. WHY is that? I DON’T GET IT!!! WHY did they remove GENDER!? I guess they expect you to just imagine your character to be the same gender you are, but…..Every single Pokemon seems to have no gender at all. WHY.
I was almost gonna name myself Tsutarja, but in the end, I just used my IRL nickname, Melody. Even though the name Melody doesn’t suit a Snivy AT ALL…..but hey, I guess it didn’t fit Touko too well either.
So, yeah, I’m a girl obviously, while my partner seem to be locked into being male. I don’t mind that, ‘cuz I would’ve named him Mijumaru either way.
Oshawott is just ADORABLE in the game’s style, BTW. X3 *wants a plushie*
While the partner of the Explorers games was timid, this game’s partner is hyper and full of energy! So, Mijumaru ends up bein’ alot like Ash’s Oshawott in the anime. Which makes him even CUTER.
Just as expected, the first dungeon was easy. But I’m not expectin’ that to last too long. Explorers of Sky was tough.
The story is pretty straightforeward. Mijumaru wants me to help him build a “paradise” and go on adventures, and I agree ‘cuz I can’t do much else at the moment. It doesn’t seem like I have amnesia in this one. I wonder how dark the story’s gonna get in this one, ‘cuz the last one got VERY dark at the end. I better not get used to this lighthearted-ness.
I stopped playin’ after I agreed. Mijumaru was extatic, and he exclaimed….
"This will be our…..PARADIIIIIIISE!!"
And so begins the adventures of Melody and Mijumaru.
